Norwegian Venuses - 5 million visits

Kari Knudsen

Yesterday, which was, coincidentally, Agent Triple P's birthday, this blog passed the five million views barrier.  To celebrate, as we have done in the past, we have decided to post some young ladies from the country with the closest population to our visits total.

Kari Knudsen

Fortunately, for five million, that country is Norway, so there is no shortage of lovely girls to choose from!  Over the years Playboy has had no less than seven Norwegian Playmates so what better selection could there be to celebrate our five millionth page view than looking at these nubile Nordic nymphs.

Kari Knudsen

Playboy's first Norwegian Playmate was revealed in February 1962 in the 36-23-35 five foot four inch shape of Kari Knudsen.  Although born in the tiny hamlet of Romsdal by the time Playboy unveiled the 23 year old she was living in New York.

Unne Terjesen

Playboy's second Norwegian Playmate was only a few months later, in July 1962, in the curvy form of Unne Terjesen.  Although born in the Norwegian town of Odda the then nineteen year old former hairdresser was living in Vancouver when photographer Ken Honey spotted her working in a local department store.

Unne Terjesen

Unne had been runner up in the 1960 Miss Norway competition and has a figure that looks like it was the idealised fantasy of a pin up artist.

Unne Terjesen

In fact Unne has the largest hip measurement of any Playboy Playmate ever: a really rather magnificent, but in no way overblown, 39 inches.   39-23-39 altogether.  Outstanding!

Britt Fredriksen

It would be over six years until Playboy had another Norwegian Playmate, but in June 1968 presented Britt Fredriksen originally from near Trondheim but by then studying in Palo Alto, California.

 Britt Frederiksen

However, she had originally come to Playboy's notice when working as a Bunny in St Louis.  In her Playboy pictorial it looks like she has had just a little too much sun which makes her look even more appealingly wide-eyed and innocent.

Britt Frederiksen

Britt was 5'4" tall and 34-21.5 (!)-34 and had, as we can see, a particularly pert posterior!

Liv Lindeland

The next Norwegian Playmate appeared in January 1971 and would be the most famous of the lot: or at least her pubic hair would be as she became the very first Playmate to flash her fleece in her centrefold.  Liv's sun-kissed curls were the cause of much agonising over whether to show them or not between publisher Hugh Hefner and photographer Alexas Urba.  The hair got through and Liv's fame was assured.

 Liv Lindeland

Nearly 5'8" tall and 36-23-34 she was certainly a prototypical strapping Nordic blonde.  She became the  first Norwegian Playmate of the Year in 1972 and married Cyd Charisse's son.

Liv Lindeland

She did some films and TV in the first half of the seventies and then reappeared onscreen in a couple of Andy Sidaris' Playmate heavy B movie (although that might be being generous) thrillers in 1988 and 1990.

Sharon Johansen

Unlike all the previous Norwegian born Playmates October 1972's Sharon Johansen moved to North America at a very young age (one) rather than as an adult.  She was a dog trainer, of all things, and even trained Hugh Hefner's dog which was called, with great originality, Dog.  She became one of Hefner's many Playmate girlfriends for a time although whether that was before or after the dog training we don't know.

Sharon Johansen

What we do know is that she was an impressive 40-22-37 and 5'8" tall.  Sharon did a bit of TV and a couple of films but her roles tended to be of the "uncredited" type.

Sharon Johansen

Although Liv Lindeland had shown her pubic hair in her centrefold in January 1971 Sharon would become only the fourth Playmate to give an unobstructed view of her fur out of 22 Centrefold shots in the interim.

Lillian Müller

Playboy's final Norwegian Playmate to date was Lillian Müller in August 1975.  She would go on to be Playmate of the year for 1976.  She moved to London from Norway at the age of twenty where she worked as a model before being discovered by Playboy.  She was also Hugh Hefner's girlfriend for a time.

Lillian Müller

5'8" and 36-24-35 she was discovered by Suze Randall who shot some sensuous pictures of her for her Playboy pictorial, although her centrefold was photographed by Dwight Hooker as Randall was considered too inexperienced at that point.

Lillian Müller

Lillian made a number of films and featured in Rod Stewart's Do ya think I'm sexy video.  Latterly she has been working advising women on healthy living and in 2010 was voted by PETA as the sexiest Vegan over fifty.

The big question is, of course, why no Norwegian Playmates since 1975?  Having been there a few years ago I'm sure that there are many more natural lovelies in the country who would be far superior to the silicone busted tattoo encrusted centrefolds of late.  More Norwegian girls please!

Most Popular Posts 2

As we have recently passed 4 million page views,  have logged more than 10,000 page views in one day for the first time and have just passed four years of Venus Observations we thought it might be time for another update on the top ten posts of all time here.  Also we are travelling at present so don't have access to our picture library for new posts!  We did this back in April so it is interesting to see what has changed in six months. Numbers represent page views, with numbers in brackets the previous position in the top 10.

1.  196,463 (1) Linda Lusardi in Mayfair  Still more than twice the views of the number two post but now not consistently the highest viewed page every month any more.  Still accounts for nearly 4.5% of the hits, though.

2. 85,599 (2) Drawings by Tom Poulton  Retains its number two position and stays the most popular art post here.  We intend to post more of his drawings soon.

3. 75,329 (4) The Pubic Wars 1976 part 4  Up one place for the most popular of our 21 (to date) posts on the Pubic Wars.

4. 65,251 (3) Polynesian Girls  Down a place for the South Seas lovelies.  As the winter approaches we are planning some more girls from the South Pacific to warm us up.

5. 53,417 (5) The Pubic Wars 1976 Part 3  Staying put at number 5 the third of our reviews of 1976 in US men's magazines.

6. 51,207 (-) Linda Lusardi in Fiesta  This didn't make our last top ten but Miss Lusardi's more brazen poses for Fiesta continue to score very highly.  Expect her to get to number 4 by next time.

7. 37,672 (7) Francoise Pascal  Retains her position as the second most popular centrefold here.

8. 33,513 (-) Bald versus Bushy  This is the fastest climber here and is consistently outscoring even Miss Lusardi at number one day by day.  It's also by far the most recent post. Expect it to march up the chart.

9. 33,513 (10) The Pubic Wars 5  This is an early version before we produced detailed year by year posts but still scoring highly.

10. 31,022 (-)  The Pubic Wars 1977 Part 2  A new entry for the second piece on the girls of 1977.

350 posts, 250 followers, 3.5 million views

Three milestones all in a short space of time so thanks to everyone who reads/and or comments.  It gives us an excuse to put up this picture which we have been sitting on for sometime.  It has no real relevance other than, possibly, some vague symbolism regarding looking to the future, but we just really love this image.

The beautifully constructed young lady is Juliana Goes (and I'm sure she does) a Brazilian model and former journalism student who gained fame in the Brazilian version of Big Brother.  What an utterly toothsome posterior she has!

We are always amused by the number of apartment block-dwelling North Americans who own telescopes so they can look into each other's flats.  It would be a jackpot day if you saw Juliana looking back at you!

Three Million Page Views!

Jurgita Valts

Well, it is less than six months since we celebrated two million page visits and now, today, we passed three million.  In fact, coincidentally, we were watching our counter this morning when it turned over!  To mark this milestone we wondered if there was a country with a population of three million so that we could illustrate this post with a Venus from that country.

From the top of the Reval hotel you can see some old airship sheds.

Lo and behold, it turns out that the country with just over a population of 3 million is Lithuania, somewhere that Agent Triple P has visited many times.  So here is Playboy’s Cyber Girl of the week from March 13 2006 (and later July's Cyber Girl of the Month), Jurgita Valts (born Jurgita Tvarionaite).  At just 5'4" she is built more like Triple P's Lithuanian friend G than the endless parade of leggy blondes you sea wafting past you sitting in a pavement cafe  in the equally attractive capital of Vilnius.

We met G on a course we were giving (in neighbouring Latvia rather than Lithuania) and after a dinner of (presciently, as it turned out) roast beaver and feeling the effects of the cannabis butter on our bread, we ended up with her and her more typically leggy (although dark haired) colleague R in the very small shower cubicle in our rather unexciting hotel (the Reval in Riga, which is redeemed by having a split level cocktail bar on the top floor, which in the evenings is packed with world class women).   G was a curvy girl with a big bust and a rose tattoo on her hip; R a six foot one inch fashion model shaped girl with an all over tan, a strong nose and long black hair.

Vilnius, capital of Lithuania from the top of the Reval Hotel

We compounded this rather unprofessional behavior on a subsequent trip to Vilnius by having a brief fling with G and R's boss, I.  Lithuanian women really are very friendly!

Our room at the Shakespeare hotel.  Oh what fun we had!

More importantly and, indeed more lastingly, it was at the Reval's sister hotel in Vilnius that we first met our particular friend B from Germany.  After giving another presentation B wanted to know more and we later retired to Triple P's hotel, the Shakespeare, which is a very nice cozy little place in the old town with interesting rooms and a nice bar and restaurant.  Triple P and B have never looked back and she has been a definite asset to Triple P's life ever since.

Here is another splendid Lithuanian cyber-girl of the week, Mikaela James (not her original surname, we suspect) from December 2010.  She is much more like the archetypical Lithuanian girl.

We have between five and six thousand page views a day and easily our most popular post is this one of Linda Lusardi  with 124,985 views!  We used to do a list of the most popular post every month but now blogger does this automatically.  However, we might just do a top ten of all time to celebrate our three million views!

The country with the closest to a population of four million is the Republic of the Congo which may be a trifle more challenging to find a nice Venus from!

Centrefold Venus of the Month: Review

Genesis, November 1973

We still get comments on previous Centrefolds of the Month and have had a lot of comments on old posts this month, so we thought it would be interesting (to us at least) to look at the source of the 29 Centrefolds of the month we have had so far; perhaps to inform the decisions we will take on what to have for the next half dozen or so.  We offer a selection of November centrefold girls we haven't shown before as decoration.

Playboy, November 1958

Actually, we have already decided on this month's entry (time is running out, though!) and some for the next few months but still have some leeway for other months into 2012.

Penthouse, November 1969

We confess to having three types of Centrefold of the Month posts.  Firstly, there is a major post on a young lady who we particularly appreciate.  Into this category we can put Carol Augustine, for example.

Knave, November 1983

Secondly, we have those ladies who have gone on to be rather more than just centrefold models and have a more interesting story attached to them.  A good example of this is Britt (Christina) Lindberg.

Mayfair, November 1990

Finally, we have those ladies who are chosen precisely because they may have had limited, or even only one, appearances in mens' magazines (such as Tamara Santerra) and so it is possible to just feature their centrefold pictorial without having to do lots of research on them and find other pictures.  If you see one of these it means that Triple P has had a particularly busy month!

Fiesta, November 1985

Of course there will be all sorts of overlap where we get a centrefold we appreciate who also has an interesting story (such as Henriette Allais).  We have avoided the production of a Venn diagram!

Chic, November 1981

We have had a quick look at two factors, however: which magazine the girl's centrefold comes from and from which decade it appeared in.

Looking at the magazine source first, we can see that Penthouse has provided the majority of our featured centrefolds to date so, perhaps, we need to widen our selection a little bit in the coming months.  Twenty out of twenty-nine centrefolds come from Penthouse and Playboy.

As regards date well over half of our centrefolds have come from the nineteen seventies with around 25% from the sixties.  None from the nineties or tens yet.  We tend to be influenced, of course, by those we remember from the magazines at the time and also the fact that, in many ways, the seventies were the high point of mens magazines in many ways.

Men Only, November 1984

Nevertheless, we should feature more from the eighties, which were nearly as good and where we also had a large number of magazines from that decade.  These were partly our own purchases but also were gifts from what would now be termed a bi-curious girlfriend whose choice in lingerie seemed very influenced by the boudoir look of the eighties.

Hustler, November 1979

When we did our first Centrefold of the Month posts we did not, as we did later, include every picture from their original pictorial or add pictures we discovered from other sources, so we are going back and remedying this gradually.

Club, November 1977

Once this is done they will all be nicely indexed down the right hand side of the page.  Those entries that are now "complete" will have an identifying number next to them.

Playboy, November 2005
Although they are usually the most time-consuming posts we now do (the recent one on the Collinson twins took five weeks to assemble) they also continue to be, along with our Pubic Wars posts, the most popular on the blog so it is only right that the old ones are brought up to the same quality level as the new ones.
